Q3 2009, smartphone sales Jump 12.8%

Sales of smart phones that offer Internet access and multimedia services increased number approximately 12.8 percent during the third quarter of 2009. Overall total smartphone sales in the world in the third quarter reached 41 million units.

Gartner research shows that compared with the same quarter of 2008, smartphone sales increased 0.1 percent.

And then, overall number of mobile phone sales reached 308.9 million units.

Expressed Gartner, Apple's iPhone have enough sales spike dramatically during a period of three months. IPhone sales nearly increased smartphone markets approximately 50 percent, from 12.9 percent at the beginning of the year to 17.9 percent.
